I need to do this on ford 460 pistons that are for press pics . My wrist pins are 1.0402 . How wide and deep do I need to bore out if using best locks. I'll trust your opinion being you have knowledge and your doing it here in your video. Thanks for the video and nay help

They have over sized thrust bearings. We machine the case the smallest amount possible, then cut the bearing.

I don’t understand what sealed the crack between the two pins you installed? It’s couldn’t be just the light peaning you did with the air hammer? I have little crack on a 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel I need to fix. It’s right between the exhaust & intake valves. I’ve never pinned a cylinder head. It’s inside the combustion chamber and under the seats. So I’m sure I’ll have to either have new seats installed or hopefully they will be able to just grind them out when doing the valve job. I’m working on almost zero budget. Also need to know where I would acquire the pins, tapered reamer and or tapered tap if I use screw in pins. Jig also if required. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

chamfering helps with oil dispersion and maintaining that little shield of oil between the crank and the bearings, almost every Daily driven V8 with 600+ HP i've seen built has had chamfering done to keep the bearings safe and well oiled under load. although the chamfer was usually only on one side. not both. as my father in law had his 350 block built to a nice 383 stroker after a shoddy crate engine from NAPA ( with a cracked cylinder wall that had to be magnafluxed to find) the machine shop chamfered the rod oiling holes and double chamfered the mains oiling holes, so far he hasn't had one issue after several years with his built engine, and has driven it long distances as well, no issues. only things breaking on it now are driveline and body rigidity as he decimated a rear differential. and put a barely noticeable crease in a rear fender launching it.

Did you have to change size in small bore at all?

Problem is most modern cars you can’t apply heat it will destroy the metal this is for older cars that need to last forever very nice job tho!

I just spin them in my lathe with soft jaws. I can dial and cut a set of 8 in about 20 minutes.

And how do u get the stuck shot out of water system, i guess after u ruin a dozen water pumps !

Forget it. It was easier for me to remove and weld on a new quarter panel on my 79' Targa than to do this and get it right.

Years ago i did complete balance jobs in springfield missoui, we Always balance the Big end First because it is more critial because it is rotating, the small end is just going up and down !

will you cut a radious or chamfer on the edge ?

If my engine had a sand seal at one point then switched to a standard pulley, can I go back? There seems to be lots of oil all over top of my oil pump

This is an MG MGT not a MG MGF nor a MG MGFT. They do not have core plugs.

We do brake disks with our machine too amongst other things

Informo-vos que a 8 anos passados utilizaram uma máquina desregulada e por este motivo não tem como provar qualidade. Falta o "cruzamento" no acabamento final. O uso de relógio comparador fixado na mesma peça que a vídea apenas confirmará que está sendo comparado com o erro da regulagem e não com a planicidade exigida. Sugiro usarem uma "LEGITIMA RÉGUA DE PRECISÃO" manipulada com o uso de sombra / luz utilizando a quina da régua e confirmando com a quina totalmente oposta e por um manipulador competente. from the start of the cut you can tell that head was tilted so the groove isn`t going to have an even depth....

Theres alot of guys hating in here. Saying excessive run out, why no torque plate ect. He has a centering jig in the lathe, it has a few grub screws to lock it in and he used 2 what looks to be head studs to lock it down. And he most likely used a dial indicator to make sure its true to make sure he has no run out. Why would he use a torque plate? Hes not taking enough material off in a single pass to distort the cylinder or untrue it while cutting. And with the jig he had its not going to let the cylinder shift mid cut so again why would he need a torque plate? Ive taken engine a few bore sizes over with nothing but a listle boring hone and sandpaper. Its a 4stone adjustable hone made for boring cylinders and it requires nothing but a half inch drill and some micrometers.

Where can i get a plate and everything to do the job?
